The conversation surrounding mental health has become increasingly important, as the past few years have highlighted the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities. Specifically, individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) or as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) have often encountered distinct barriers when seeking mental health support. Recognizing the critical need for inclusive and culturally affirming support, we aim to provide custom resources for mental health exploration and healing within these communities.
Anxiety Canada is an organization dedicated to reducing the barriers of anxiety and related disorders. It offers trusted resources, programs, and tools to help individuals find relief from anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The platform provides educational materials, self-help strategies, and community support.
In this course, we will explore different aspects of good mental health as well as provide an overview of the major kinds of mental disorders, their causes, treatments and how to seek help and support.The course will feature a large number of Australian experts in psychiatry, psychology and mental health research,and we will also hear from “lived experience experts”, people who have lived with mental illness, and share their personal stories of recovery.
