Tsinghua University Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Tsinghua University was founded in the autumn of 1926 and is one of the earliest psychology departments in Chinese universities. It was founded by famous psychologists Tang Yue, Sun Guohua, Zhou Xiangeng and others, and is one of the six major departments of the School of Science at Tsinghua University. The Department of Psychology emphasizes the teaching and research of basic psychological theories, and the courses offered focus on natural sciences. It has established general psychology laboratories and experimental psychology laboratories. In 1932, the Institute of Psychology was established and began to recruit graduate students.

The Department of Psychology at Tsinghua University is one of the important bases for psychology research and education in China. Since its establishment in 1926, it has been committed to the research and teaching of basic psychology theories. Initially, Tsinghua University established the Department of Educational Psychology. Considering that education belongs to the category of education in normal colleges, in order to better reflect the nature of Tsinghua as a comprehensive liberal arts university, the Department of Educational Psychology was changed to the Department of Psychology in 1928. There are many laboratories and research institutes in the department, providing students and researchers with rich learning and research resources. The curriculum of the Department of Psychology focuses on the foundation of natural sciences and has cultivated a large number of outstanding psychology professionals.

Department of Psychology, University of Edinburgh
The Psychology department at the University of Edinburgh was established in 1906 by the estate of George Combe. The first permanent post was known as the Combe lectureship in General and Experimental Psychology. The first incumbent, Dr W.G. Smith, was a PhD student of Wilhelm Wundt, a founding father of modern psychology. The second incumbent, James Drever, became the first Professor of Psychology in Scotland. After a philosophically oriented start, the appointment of a biologist, Professor D.M. Vowles, as chair in 1968 saw psychology develop strongly as a scientific discipline. The department was incorporated into the School of Philosophy, Psychology, & Language Sciences in 2003. We currently have around forty members of academic staff spanning all major areas of academic psychology: cognition, development, individual differences, neuroscience, and social psychology. We offer both undergraduate and postgraduate training, including several taught and research Masters, and PhDs.
