The Department of Psychology at Northeastern University explores the inner workings of the brain and behavior. It is committed to diversity, inclusion, and cutting-edge research in areas such as behavioral neuroscience and social psychology.
The Department of Psychology at Northeastern University is a community of scholars committed to cultivating a culture of inclusion, equity, respect, and connectedness. Northeastern's Psychology Department emphasizes understanding the 'why' behind human behavior. It offers degree options from undergraduate to graduate levels, with a focus on inclusivity and real-world applications. We can develop a more equitable and inclusive psychological science when we encourage a diversity of thought, culture, and viewpoint, which are essential to lifelong learning. Diversity encompasses individuals from any group or identity that has traditionally been marginalized in the academy, in particular in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
Royal Holloway's Department of Psychology is recognized as one of the top psychology departments in the UK for its world-class research and award-winning teaching.
Faculty in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Boston College synergistically blend behavioral neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and psychological science approaches to address questions at the core of the human experience. As psychologists and neuroscientists, we seek to understand basic functions such as memory, emotion, visual perception, social interaction, development and learning, and problem solving and creativity, and to shed light on how these functions are altered in psychopathology, developmental disorders, or neurological disorders. Faculty in our department approach these topics from multiple, converging levels, using assessments of individual behavior, dynamic group interactions, and investigations of the neural processes and computations that give rise to behavior.
The Psychology Department is home to 2 important centers: The Center for Perceptual Systems is an integrated multidisciplinary program that focuses on the study of perception from basic sensory processes to perceptual organization. The Institute for Mental Health Research conducts interdisciplinary science that uses advances in basic research with clinical and non-clinical populations to develop innovative treatments for mental health disorders. The impact of our work extends beyond even the broad scope of the Psychology Department. Many of our faculty are actively involved in interdisciplinary collaborations that span diverse colleges and schools across the university, the Dell Medical School, city and state governmental agencies and schools, non-profit organizations, and corporate partners from around the globe.
