The Pennsylvania Psychological Association is the professional association for psychologists in Pennsylvania, serving the needs of psychologists in independent practice, schools, business organizations, hospitals, private and government agencies, and academia.The purpose of PPA is to advance psychology in Pennsylvania as a means of promoting human welfare. We carry out this charge through activities that advocate vigorously for public access to psychological services, that educate and support the professional development of our members, that educate the public through disseminating and applying psychological knowledge, and that maintain and build organizational strength.

Policy for the association is determined by a Board of Directors and carried out by a professional staff of six, headquartered in Harrisburg, PA. Founded in 1933, PPA is the third largest state association affiliated with the American Psychological Association. (www.apa.org) The purpose of PPA is to advance psychology in Pennsylvania as a means of promoting human welfare. We carry out this charge through activities that advocate vigorously for public access to psychological services, that educate and support the professional development of our members, that educate the public through disseminating and applying psychological knowledge, and that maintain and build organizational strength. Our Mission: - Effectively communicate to the public, policy makers, and membership the value of evidence-based and ethical practice. - Support the lifelong learning of competent and ethical psychologists. - Promote and connect our membership to foster a community of professional psychologists.
