Established in 2011 as the 14th division of the Korean Psychological Association, the Korean Coaching Psychology Association (KCPA) is an academic research organization with over 1,500 members as of December 2023. Coaching, which began in the late 20th century, is a rapidly growing field aimed at helping normal individuals achieve goals, solve problems, and foster personal growth. The primary goal of coaching is 'human change,' and psychologists have applied well-established psychological theories on human development and behavior change to enhance its effectiveness. The field of 'Coaching Psychology' was officially recognized in 2000 at the University of Sydney, Australia.
