Brown–Peterson Task

The Brown–Peterson Task is a working memory paradigm that measures short-term retention of three-letter consonant trigrams under interference. Complete each recall after the delay.

Brown–Peterson Task

Welcome to the Brown–Peterson working memory task. This experiment will test your short-term memory for consonant trigrams.

Each trial proceeds as follows: 1. A “+” appears in the center of the screen 2. Three consonants are shown (1 second each) 3. A retention interval with a specified distraction task 4. After the interval, recall the three consonants as quickly as possible (order doesn’t matter)

Distraction tasks include: - None: wait quietly - Tapping: tap the table with your finger - Count Back by 3: start from the screen number and subtract 3 repeatedly - Add 1: start from the screen number and add 1 repeatedly

The practice phase will help you get familiar with the procedure. When you're ready, click “Start Practice.”
